Feelin’ HOT! HOT! HOT! A cool book giveaway!

Posted on Jul 7, 2012 in Uncategorized | 44 Comments

Hot enough for you? Well, hopefully this little contest will help as I’m giving away SIGNED books by two of the COOLEST authors I know: Siobhan Vivian and Terra Elan McVoy! And because I’m selfish like that, I’m throwing one of my books into the mix!

THE LIST and BEING FRIENDS WITH BOYS are two of my favorite books this year. I’ve already properly gushed about them in my Reading Challenge blog, but I love talking about these two books!

I got to tour with Siobhan this spring and we had a blast! THE LIST was one of those books that I devoured in two sittings. It follows eight very different girls and the aftermath they face after being put on “the list” of the prettiest and ugliest girls in each class. This book is everything a great book should be: it has heart and humor, it’s clever with a little mystery thrown in. (Oh, I also got to read her upcoming fall book, Burn for Burn with Jenny Han, and it’s equally amazing.)

Me with Siobhan and the very copy of THE LIST that I'm giving away!

I first met Terra Elan McVoy years ago when we both worked at Scholastic: me in publicity, Terra in editorial. I adore Terra and have been following her author career with great enthusiasm and pride! When I heard the description of BEING FRIENDS WITH BOYS, I knew I was going to love this book. Um, hello? An awesomely cool girl who’s in a band with a bunch of guys? Sign me up! I absolutely loved this book. Terra and I keep joking that BEING FRIENDS WITH BOYS and TAKE A BOW are fraternal twins. I only wish that I could capture the magic of being in a band half as good as Terra!

Terra and I with our fraternal twins!

And because I like to do anything with Siobhan and Terra, I’m including a signed copy of TAKE A BOW as well!

TO ENTER GIVEAWAY TO WIN ALL THREE BOOKS: simply answer this question below in the comments: What cool books are on your summer reading list? One winner will be chosen from random at 10pm EST Sunday, July 8, 2012. US ONLY (sorry!). Looking to some fun summer reads by Jenny O’Connel and Jennifer Han that I’m behind on along with Stupid Fast by Geoff Herbach and Wonder by RJ Palacio (which I’m 1/2 done with and it’s killing me that I haven’t finished it yet!).

i’ve got a lot i want to read this summer, so i can’t really list them all, but a few are: one moment by kristina mcbride, crazy by amy reed, shadow and bone by leigh bardugo, insignia by s j kincaid, tiger lily by jodi lynn anderson, and team human by justine larbalestier and sarah rees brennan : )

    July 7, 2012

Some of the books on my summer reading list include… The Ender’s Game series by Orson Scott Card, The Moth Diaries by Rachel Klein, Looking for Alaska by John Green, and the Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare.

Those are only a few of the books I want to read, but one of my favorite things in the world is going to the library and finding books that I’ve never heard of. I support indie authors, and lesser-known, less popular authors, so when I find a book that looks brand new and untouched on the shelf of a library, I pick it up. If I find a book that looks different–one I’ve never seen before, I pick it up. I’ll read anything, if it appears interesting to me.

    July 7, 2012

My cool books this summer are: The Foutainhead by Ayn Rand and Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen
I did read two others but my school made me so I never count those although I did read them.
I loved the Fountainhead although it is an extremely hard book to get into I eventually made it through. My awesome school librarian recommended it because I love being challenged. The thing that makes The Foutainhead an awesome book is that she made the characters so different to each but they managed to coexist.

    July 8, 2012

This is such a neat idea! I was checking out one of those books in the bookstore the other day with a friend and Take a Bow is one of my all time favorites 🙂
After I finish the book I’m reading right now (Jane’s Fame by Claire Harman; it’s about Jane Austen and why she’s still so well-known), I’m going to read my books for AP Modern European history this coming school year. Then I’m going to read The Wild Queen by Carolyn Meyer and reread Anna and the French Kiss. And along the way, I’ll be reading London/England guide books for planning my trip next July (yes, I plan probably too far in advance).
In any case, I hope whoever gets the books enjoys them! 🙂

    July 8, 2012

My to be read list is so long, I can no longer find the end of it! But for sure I want to finish Clash of the Kings (Game of Thrones #2) and I think I will be reading lots and lots of Montessori manuals. I plan to sneak in as many other books as I can, too! Fun ones that I don’t *have* to read.

BTW – I have read the List and it is really good! I enjoyed it! But not as much as your books Elizabeth! : )

Oh wow this is so awesome!! Thanks for doing this– have been wanting to read these books, but so hard to come by in my library on account of being so popular 😀

So these books are obviously on my TBR list, and in the near future there are The Vespertine by Saundra Mitchell, and Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers: gotten them on hold, but have to wait till the end of this week, when exams are over….

Further in the summer, must finish Inheritance and Clockwork Angel: had put off finishing them during the school year, just impossible…

Then there are a lot of AWESOME sounding books I really want to read: Graffiti Moon, Everneath, Angelfire, Bitterblue, The Fine Art of Truth and are, Seraphina, Sisters Red, Scarlet, Velveteen, Defiance, Croak, Dreamsleeves, White Cat, The Wicked and The Just, Unspoken, Team Human, Delirium, The Cavendish Home for Boys and Girls…. so many!
