Seven Summers
Carley Fortune with a hint of magic in this aspirational, summer romance where a woman finds that diving off the dock of her childhood lake house resets her summer, giving her multiple chances to get life—and love—right.
Nina Davis always thought she knew what she wanted: her own restaurant, a handsome artsy man on her arm, and a summer vacation at her family’s lake house in Door County, Wisconsin. On paper, she has it all. But now years into restaurant ownership, what once gave her joy has become a mountain of debt. And when her longtime boyfriend realizes she’ll always choose the restaurant, he leaves. With everything falling apart, Nina turns to the one place she’s always counted on: the lake house.
After catering her parents’ 40th wedding anniversary party, Nina ends up alone on the dock during golden hour. Seeking solace, she dives in. When she surfaces, everything has changed. Her dad has passed away and she never moved to New York to open her restaurant. But somehow, she is still connected to Sebastian, the infuriatingly talented pastry chef at her restaurant.
Realizing the dock is the key, Nina begins using it to search for her perfect life. Over the course of seven unforgettable summers, Nina discovers that part of life is about letting go, embracing the unexpected, and holding loved ones close while she can. She just has to dive in.
Seven Summers will be released on May 25, 2027. Click here to find or pre-order from an independent bookstore near you. Or you can order from Amazon or Barnes and Noble.

BEHIND THE STORY
A lover of romcoms, I’ve wanted to publish a book for adults for years. Last summer, I got the call! An editor at Simon & Schuster had an idea for a book and wanted to see if I was interested in writing it. I read a page and a half proposal about a women who seems to have it all together, but questions her life choices when she goes home for her parents’ anniversary. She takes a dive off a pier at golden hour and when she comes back up, she’s in a different version of her life. Um, was I interested? YES, PLEASE!!
It was fun to write different versions of someone’s life based on choices they’ve made. Who hasn’t gone through a “what if…?” spiral. It was also a lot of hard work. During the editing process, we realized I should switch a couple of the summers around and that is easier said than done, especially when the manuscript was over 400 pages. Most of all, I’m so proud of this book and can’t wait for my readers—many who have grown up with me—to go on this new journey with me.
